Reena Miglani

Co-Founder

Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Reena Miglani relocated to Chicago, USA, to pursue a Graduate Degree in Business and Finance. After graduating, she entered the world of investment banking, before relocating with her husband, restaurateur Ajay Walia, in California where she pivoted to a career in tech that spanned 20 years. During this time, she supported Ajay’s entrepreneurial pursuits in the hospitality sector as a consultant for his two restaurants, Saffron in San Carlos, and Michelin starred RASA, later Saffron Burlingame. In 2023, Reena shifted into being a business owner herself with the founding of Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, Amara, opening in San Francisco in mid-2024. A cross-cultural and multi-flavoured site, Amara draws all the best of the Mediterranean food, culture and beauty into one accessible, elevated and memorable place. Reena also launched a joint-venture with her daughter, Nikita Waila, of award-winning creative brand company, BLANK. Their co-founded business, First New York, curates modern heirlooms for empowered shoppers to gift themselves. Reena intends to branch into mentoring in the near future, supporting women in need of guidance whilst facing crossroads within their careers. Reena lives in the Bay Area with her family.
